Jason brought him for his talk on The Evolution of Flight. A fascinating talk by the way. Anyway, Jason asked me if I would like to keep this roller pigeon. I was excited to. I'm a pigeon fan. We had to desensitize him to us, to hands, we began small recalls, we trained long recalls, we trained him to go in and out of this cage. I have since taught him to step on a scale, go into a crate. I used him in my last talk here at our annual event when talking about shaping and targeting. He targeting to my head when the news station came to interview us. I have now decided to begin training Chello to go out on charity visits with me. I want to donate some time to the Make A Wish Foundation or to The Shriners. I think Chello would make a great education pigeon and I have no doubt he will bring smiles to many faces of children needing a smile. I LOVE this bird and this relationship we have has just sky rocketed through training. The type of training I do is the best form of communication I have found with any animal. Enjoy his slow motion flight and check out the rhythm in his wing beat that isn't observable in real time.
